Правительственная программа в Великобритании, введенная в действие в 1987 г. в соответствии с Законом о государственном бюджете 1986 г. с тем, чтобы путем определенных налоговых льгот стимулировать физических лиц делать прямые капиталовложения в британские компании, акции которых котируются на Фондовой бирже. Такие инвестиции управляются специально уполномоченным руководителем программы/фонда. Фонды могут быть дискреционными, и в этом случае инвестиционные решения принимаются уполномоченным руководителем (иногда такие фонды называются управляемые фонды личных капиталовложений (managed PEP)); или недискриционными (фонды личных капиталовложений по своему выбору (self-select PEP)). В последнем случае сам инвестор принимает решения о капиталовложениях. Инвестор может внести единовременную сумму или регулярно делать ежемесячные взносы. Реинвестируемые дивиденды освобождаются от подоходного налога (income tax) и налога на реализованный прирост рыночной стоимости капитала (capital-gains tax) в случае, если инвестиции не изымаются из фонда по крайней мере в течение полного календарного года. Физическое лицо может вложить в созданный в рамках указанной программы фонд не более 6000 ф. ст. за один год и не более 3000 ф. ст. в фонд личных капиталовложений в одной компании (single-company PEP).
