Средство стимулирования спроса на товар и укрепления приверженности покупателей данной марке (см. Brand loyalty). Реклама - одна из основных форм конкуренции между компаниями-производителями в области дифференциации продукции (см. Product differentiation). Существуют две противоположные точки зрения на то, как реклама влияет на эффективность функционирования рынка. В традиционной статической теории рынка подчеркивается отрица тельное воздействие рекламы на эффективность распределения ресурсов. Она рассматривает рекламу как деятельность компании, единственной целью которой является постоянный переход с одной марки на другую при неизменном совокупном спросе, что способствует росту цен и увеличению общих издержек производства. Альтернативная точка зрения подчеркивает позитивную роль рекламы в стимулировании спроса и достижении экономии на масштабах (см. Economies of scale).
