    Русскому вежливый соответствуют английские прилагательные polite, civil, courteous, respectful, descreet, tactful и словосочетание to have good manners, требующие разных ситуаций употребления. Polite наиболее нейтральное слово в этой группе. Polite - тактичный, дипломатичный, особенно осторожный, чтобы не обидеть собеседника: Do you mean what you said about my dress or are you just beeng polite? Тебе действительно нравится мое платье, или ты говоришь это ради вежливости? He was very polite about my performance but I could tell from his expression that he was disappointed. Он очень вежливо отозвался о моей игре, но по его выражению я понял, что он был разочарован. Civil - вежливый, но не обязательно дружелюбный. Civil в отличие от polite, употребляется в более официальных ситуациях: I expect a civil answer when I ask you a question. Я ожидаю вежливого ответа на свой вопрос. Courteuos - слово официальной речи, употребляется при обращение к мало знакомым людям: Airline staff must be courteous at all times, even when passengers are not.
