101 Applique Net
Formed by muslin motifs appliqued upon a net ground. The muslin is tacked to the net over brown paper, the design is embroidered and both muslin and net are cut away where not required. The whole design is then finished off with various stitches. -
102 Sicilian Embroidery
Work intended to imitate embroidery upon muslin. It consists in tracing a point lace design and tacking muslin and then fine cambric over the design, the outlines of which are marked out with a thick braid known as Spanish braid. Both the materials are retained at the patterned parts, but the cambric is cut away beyond the braid and the raw edges are concealed by the braid being sewn down to the muslin. The work is also called Spanish embroidery.Dictionary of the English textile terms > Sicilian Embroidery

119 Elastic Finish
BRISE, or ELASTIC FINISHA finish for muslin, jaconets, etc., and is a special one to keep the fabric soft and clothy, leaving yams round. Drying is done on stenters, and the cloth moving all the time. ———————— Such fabrics as batiste and muslin, require to have a degree of elasticity so that when bent they will resume their normal position when the pressure is released. This elasticity depends upon glutinous substances mixed with other ingredients in the mixture. The permanency of the elasticity depends on the condition of the atmosphere as moisture will effect this. -
