Wuchtkolben unserer Turnplätze, Cael. Aur. de morb. chron. 5, 2, 38. Vgl. halteres. – II) übtr., eine Anzahl Fußsoldaten (bei den velites, hastati u. principes 120, bei den triarii 60 Mann), Manipel, Kompagnie (deren 3 eine Kohorte bildeten), so genannt nach dem Bündel Heu, das zu Romulus' Zeit statt der Fahne vorgetragen wurde (s.
