    IVY LEAGUE En el noreste de Estados Unidos, la Ivy League está formada por ocho universidades de gran prestigio tanto académico como social. El término procede de la época en la que estas ocho universidades, Harvard, Yale, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth y Cornell formaron una liga para impulsar las competiciones deportivas entre ellas y tiene su origen en la hiedra ( ivy) que cubre los muros de las facultades y colegios universitarios. A los estudiantes de estas universidades se les denomina Ivy Leaguers.

    THE IVY LEAGUE On désigne ainsi un groupe de huit universités du nord-est des États-Unis: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, l'Université de Pennsylvanie, Princeton et Yale. Ces universités se caractérisent par une forte proportion d'étudiants de troisième cycle, des moyens financiers importants et la réputation d'excellence de leurs universitaires. Si à l'origine, "Ivy League" servait à promouvoir les rencontres sportives entre les universités qui la composaient, elle est depuis devenue synonyme d'un enseignement prestigieux très compétitif, réservé à l'élite.
