= high level language; = high-level programming language; = HLLязык [программирования] высокого уровня, ЯВУязыки программирования уровня 3GL и выше, т. е. обеспечивающие более высокий уровень абстракции, чем языки низкого уровня (low-level language), что помогает при разработке программы сконцентрироваться на особенностях решаемой задачи, а не её реализации на конкретной аппаратной платформе. Можно сказать, что ЯВУ (например, Ada, C, FORTRAN, Java, Modula-2, Oberon или Pascal) позволяют писать программы, в большей или меньшей степени независимые от конкретного типа процессора, обеспечивают улучшенную переносимость с платформы на платформу (т. е. изолируют программиста от машины, однако ограничивают его при этом в некоторых возможностях).
