ἀφάνεια, ας, ἡ (s. ἀφανής; Pind., Aeschyl., Thu.; also Ezk 23:33 Theod.; Philo, Div. Rer. Hered. 157) ‘invisibility’, then annihilation, destruction ἵνα ἀρχὴν λάβῃ αὐτοῦ ἡ ἀφ. so that his annihilation (cp. 2 Th 2:8) might begin ApcPt Rainer 4:9 (at ApcPt 14).
