mколенопреклонение, покаяние федерального канцлера Вилли Брандта, снискавшее ему уважение во всём мире. Во время государственного визита в Польшу в 1970 г. он встал на колени перед мемориалом жертвам восстания 1943 г. в варшавском гетто (Mahnmal für die Opfer des Aufstandes von 1943 im Warschauer Ghetto), выразив таким образом покаяние перед польским народом от лица всех немцев за преступления, совершённые на земле Польши гитлеровской армией в годы Второй мировой войны (началась в сентябре 1939 г. нападением нацистской Германии на Польшу). Поступок Вилли Брандта стал очередным шагом в его позитивной восточной политике – прежде всего, по отношению к Советскому Союзу, Польше и Чехословакии.
