1 Stocking Frame
The first knitting machine to work automatically and invented in 1589 by William Lee. -
2 Swedish Work
A kind of hand weaving used in the making of braids, straps and narrow ribbons. A small frame shaped like a comb has holes at the points of the eight prongs, and red threads pass through the holes while 7 white threads pass between the prongs. The weft is wound on a small thin shuttle and worked as required between the two sets of warp threads. -
