Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (сокр. SEVIS)амер. образ. программа СЕВИСИнтернет-система, позволяющая отслеживать текущую информацию о приехавших студентах и передавать ее в Министерство национальной безопасности и в Госдепартамент США на протяжении всего пребывания студентов; новая программа проверки студентов, приехавших на учебу в США по визам F, J и M. Данные всеx студентов заносятся в компьютерную систему для гарантии соблюдения новых правил, предъявляемых к студентам и тем учебным заведениям, куда они поступили. Учебные заведения, в которых учатся иностранцы, теперь должны зарегистрироваться в SEVIS и вводить требуемую информацию непосредственно в эту систему. Создание SEVIS было, в частности, вызвано тем, что некоторые террористы, действовавшие 11 сентября 2001 г., прибыли в США по студенческим визам. Начиная с 15 января 2003 года учебные заведения, получившие от СИН (INS) разрешение на обучение иностранцев, должны использовать SEVIS для заполнения иностранными студентами бланков Form I-20. К 1.08.2003 г. эти учебные заведения должны собирать и вводить в SEVIS необходимую информацию о студентах, которые поступили до 30.01.2003 г. Эта информация должна содержать настоящий адрес студента и его почтовый адрес, если он отличается от адреса проживания. SEVIS будет отслеживать переходы студента из одного учебного заведения в другое, а также академические интересы студента.
