Folge, I) der Zustand, wenn eine Person oder Sache auf die andere folgt: ordo. – nach der F., ordine. – II) der Zustand. wenn eine Sache aus der andern folgt: consecutio; consequentia. – die logische F. der Wörter, consecutio verborum. – dah. »in Folge«, s. infolge. – III) der Zustand, wenn man einer Person od. Sache als Gesetz od. Regel folgt, z.B. jmdm. F. leisten, alci obsequi. in etwas, in alqa re (s. »gehorchen« die Synon.): dem zur F., s. demzufolge. – IV) was ununterbrochen aufeinander folgt u. ein Ganzes ausmacht: series. – V) die folgende, künftige Zeit: tempus posterum, futurum. – in der F., postero tempore. posthac. postea (in der folgenden Zeit, nachher); tempore procedente (mit der Zeit): in die F. od. für die F., in posterum; in reliquum tempus. – VI) von Begebenheiten, die als Ursachen u. Wirkungen miteinander verbunden sind: a) übh., consecutio (die F. als Wirkung, philos. t. t.). – exitus (Ausgang). – eventus (Erfolg). – exemplum (das Beispiel, das an etwas genommen wird). – die Folgen, eventus, qui sequuntur: die Folgen davon, eae res, quae ex ipsis eveniunt: die Folgen der Schlacht. quae post pugnam accĭderunt: die Folgen des Sieges, condicio victoriae. – dann ist die F., daß etc., ita fit, ut etc: dann ist noch nicht die F., s. »daraus folgt noch nicht« unter »folgen no. II, b«. – etw. zur F. haben, die F. von etw. sein, sequitur alqd alqam rem (es folgt etw. auf etw., z.B. eius exsilium ruina urbis secuta est); manat alqd ex alqa re (es fließt etw. aus etw., es geht unmittelbar daraus hervor, z.B. Fehler haben Sünden zur F., peccata ex vitiis manant); oritur alqd ex alqa re (z.B. turpes actiones, quae oriuntur e vitiis). – dies hatte die natürliche F., daß er etc., id huiusmodi erat, ut etc.: die F. davon war, daß etc., quo factum est, ut etc. – es ist etw. von Folgen, alqd pertinet ad exemplum: von langwierigen Folgen sein, longius serpere: wichtige Folgen haben, magni esse momenti: keine (wichtigen) Folgen haben, nullius esse momenti: schlimme Folgen haben, von schlimmen Folgen sein, male evenire; secus cadit res, ac speraverat alqs; mali esse exempli: von sehr schlimmen Folgen sein, pessimi esse exempli: gute Folgen haben, bene evenire; sur jmd., alci evenire ex sententia: möge es für dich die glücklichsten Folgen haben, von den gl. F. sein, sit tibi felix: vor den Folgen schaudern, quorsum res eruptura [916] sit, horrere: die Folgen von etwas berechnen, rationem habere alcis rei (z.B. periculi sui): die F. wird es lehren, docebit post exitus: die F. wird lehren, daß er wohl daran getan habe, documento sequentia erunt, eum bene fecisse: bedenkt die Folgen wohl, videte et prospicite animis, quid futurum sit. – b) die logische Folge, s. Folgerung no. II.
