39 -morire-
Suo marito è morto (= non è più vivo), her husband is dead; ma: Suo marito è morto l'anno scorso in un incidente stradale, her husband died in a car accident last year (non her husband is dead in a car accident last year); La nonna è morta nel sonno stamattina, granny died in her sleep this morning (non granny is dead in her sleep this morning). -
40 -never o ever?-
Nota d'usoGli avverbi never e ever possono essere tradotti entrambi con “mai”: never esprime una negazione, mentre ever implica una possibilità. In generale, never viene usato nelle frasi affermative ed ever nelle frasi interrogative. Inoltre, è possibile utilizzare never nelle frasi interrogative, quando si vuole esprimere sorpresa: Have you never been to Rome?, non sei mai stato a Roma? (in questo caso, si può anche usare ever con il verbo alla forma negativa: Haven't you ever been to Rome?).
