Cf. Dutch blaar, a white spot on the forehead (Whence French blaireau, badger), Middle Dutch blaer, bald. See for roots bealltuinn, bàn. Welsh has blawr, grey, iron-grey, which seems allied. This word enters largely into Pictish topography. It is not so used in Argyle (M`K.) nor in Ireland.
