I n отдых, покой (1). See leave, n. (2). See holiday, n. II n остаток, остальное, остальные Существительное rest употребляется с определенным артиклем и обычно в конструкции the rest of smb/smth. The rest of smb, smth не сочетается с числительными и, таким образом, русским оставшиеся три книги, остальные пять человек соответствуют в английском языке the remaining three books, the remaining five people. III v отдыхать (1). Русскому отдыхать в значении проводить отпуск соответствует не глагол to rest, а словосочетание to have (spend, take) a holiday (vacation):to have a good (bad, nice, wonderful) holiday — хорошо (плохо) отдохнуть.
(2). See holiday, n. -
