1899-1942Estudia en la Universidad de Columbia. Distribuidor regional de las peliculas de MGM en 1924, de ese puesto de caracter burocratrico sal ta al de guionista en 1927, y al de director en 1931. En este ultimo cometido trabaja para RKO, pero vuelve a MGM a mediados de esa misma decada. Su temprana muerte impide evaluar sus posibilidades reales, pese a que cuenta con una filmografia nada desdenable numericamente. Sus escasas 20 peli culas como realizador nos lo muestran como un director de genero no demasiado imaginativo y muy eclectico, predominando en su obra la comedia melodramatica y el drama puro y duro.
