{Вероятно, содержит древнеангл. "sunne", "солнце" (совр. англ. "sun") и связано с древнеангл. "land", "lond" – "земля" (совр. англ. "land").} Перевод на язык Рохана названия Anórien, земли, непосредственно прилегающей к Minas Anor (первоначально включавшей в себя этот город и всю населенную местность вплоть до реки Erui). Таким образом, это название связано не столько с климатическими условиями, сколько с "геральдикой", с геральдическими именами сыновей Элендила Anárion и Isildur и образует пару с Ithilien. Это название появляется только в поэтических переводах песен Рохана (III 77), и должно быть оставлено без перевода. Его можно протранскрибировать (и это более точно) как Sunnlending, как это сделано в шведском переводе. Однако голландский перевод этого слова, Zuiderleen, "южное владение" ошибочен, так как "южные владения" (называвшиеся также Outlands) в тексте – это прибрежные земли к югу от Anórien. -
