Роханское название; должно быть оставлено без изменений. Это же слово присутствует и в названии Eastfold, которое тоже нужно оставить, как есть (ср. Eastemnet). Это древнеанглийское слово "folde" (древнеисландское "fold"), оно означает "земля, страна", и не имеет отношения ни к английскому глаголу "fold" ("складывать, сгибать"), ни к "fold" ("загон для овец", "отара овец"). Ср. Vestfold и Østfold в Норвегии. Folde был центром королевства, где располагались резиденции короля и королевской родни; его восточная граница шла от слияния Snowbourn и Entwash на юго-запад, к горам; Eastfold – это земли от этой границы и восточнее, до Fenmark, лежащие между Entwash и горами; Westfold, аналогичным образом, земли, лежащие вдоль гор вплоть до реки Isen. Оборонительный центр Folde и Eastfold был в Edoras, а центр Westfold – в Helm's Deep. -
