ἀίσθω, Hom. zweimal, Il. 20, 403 αὐτὰρ ὁ ϑυμὸν ἄισϑε καὶ ἤρυγεν, ὡς ὅτε ταῦρος –. ἃς ἄρα τόν γ' ἐρυγόντα λέπ' ὀστέα ϑυμὸς ἀγήνωρ; 16, 468 ὁ δ' ἔβραχε ϑυμὸν ἀίσϑων, κὰδ δ' έπεσ' ἐν κονίῃσι μακών, απὸ δ' ἔπτατο ϑυμός. Hiernach kann ϑυμὸν ἄισϑε nicht heißen = er hauchte die Seele aus; wie Einige erklären. Man vgl. vielmehr 15, 252 ἐφἀμην νέκυας καὶ δῶμ' Ἀίδαο ἤματι τῷδ' ἴξεσϑαι, ἐπεἰ φίλον ἄιον ἦτορ, wo Ariston. Scholl. ἡ διπλῆ, ὅτι ἄιον ἀντὶ τοῠ ἐπῃσϑόμην, τοῦτο δέ ἐστι τῆς ψυχῆς μοῦ ήψατο. καὶ ἐν ἄλλοις (11, 532) »τοὶ δὲ πληγῆς ἀίοντες« ἐπαισϑόμενοι τῆς πληγῆς. Also ἀίσϑω = αἴσϑω, act. zu αἴσϑομαι, αἰσϑάνομαι; ϑυμὸν ἄισϑε = er fühlte sein Leben, durch die Verwundung, d. h. er zuckte zusammen, im innersten Leben getroffen. Apoll. Lex. Hom. 16, 16 ἀίσϑων αἰσϑόμενος· »ὁ δ' ἀνέβραχε ϑυμὸν ἀίσϑων«. – Opp. H. 5, 311.
