5 असिः _asiḥ
असिः [अस्यते क्षिप्यते; अस्-इन् Uṇ.4.139]1 A sword-2 A knife used for killing animals.-3 [अस्यति सेवनेन पापानि] N. of a river to the south of Benares.-4 Breath (श्वास).-सि ind. (Mar. त्रिधारी निवडुंग.)-3 a hell paved with swords.(-त्रम्) 1 the blade of a sword.-2 a sheath, a scabbard. ˚वनम् a hell where the trees have leaves as sharp as swords. असिपत्रवनं चैव निशितं क्षुरसंवृतम् (ददर्श) Mb.18.2. 23; असिपत्रवनं चैव लोहदारकमेव च । Ms.4.9;-पत्रकः 1 a sugar-cane.-2 white दर्भ grass, Bhāg.5.26.7.-पथः, -थम् the course of the breath.-पुच्छः, -पुच्छकः the Gangetic porpoise; see शिशुमार.-पुत्रिका, -पुत्री a knife (असेः पुत्रीव).-मेदः [असिरिव तीक्ष्णो मेदो निर्यासो यस्य] the fetid Khadira. (-त्यम्) fighting with knives or swords.-हस्तः killing by right hand sword; (असिहस्तो दक्षिणबाहुविभ्रान्तच्छेदः । इति नीलकण़्ठटीका); असिहस्तापहस्ताभ्यां तेषां गात्राण्यकृन्तत Mb.6.9.45.-हेतिः [असिर्हेतिः साधनमस्य] a swordsman. -
