mfn. growing on the Malaya mountains;

मलयः 1 N. of a mountain range in the south of India, abounding in sandal trees; (poets usually repre- sent the breeze from the Malaya mountain as wafting the odour of sandal trees and other plants growing thereon, which peculiarly affects persons who are smit with love); स्तनाविव दिशस्तस्याः शैलौ मलयदर्दुरौ R.4.51; 9.25;13.2; विना मलयमन्यत्र चन्दनं न प्ररोहति Pt.1.41; मलये भिल्लपुरन्ध्री चन्दनतरुकाष्ठमिन्धनं कुरुते Subhāṣ.
