ऊधस्वती

ऊधस् n. An udder (changed to ऊधन् in Bah. Comp. ऊधसो$नङ् P.V.4.131.) भुवं कोष्णेन कुण्डोध्नी मेध्ये- नावमृथादपि R.1.84.

कुण्डः डी डम् [cf. Uṇ.1.112]

1 A bowl-shaped vessel, a basin, bowl.

-2 A round hole in the ground for receiving and preserving water. बलं नागसहस्रस्य यस्मि- न्कुण्डे प्रतिष्ठितम् Mb.1.128.68.

-3 A hole in general; अग्निकुण्डम्.

-4 A pool, well; especially one consecrated to some deity or holy purpose.

-5 The bowl of a mendicant.

-6 A water-jar (कमण्डलु).

-डः (

-डा f.) A son born in adultery, the son of a woman by a man other than her husband while the husband is alive; पत्यौ जीवति कुण्डः स्यात् Ms.3.174; Y.1.22.

-ण्डा An epithet of Durgā.

-Comp. -आशिन् m. a pander, pimp, one who depends for his livelihood on a कुण्ड i. e. a bastard, or adulterine; अमृते जारजः कुण्डो मृते भर्तरि गोलकः । यस्तयो- रन्नमश्नाति स कुण्डाशीति कथ्यते ॥ Deval Smṛiti; Ms.3.158; Y.1.224.

औधस a. (

-सी f.) [ऊधसः इदं अण्] Being or contain- ed in the udder (as milk); यवसं जग्ध्यनुदिनं नैवं दोग्ध्यौधसं पयः Bhāg.4.17.23.

घटः [घट-अच्]

1 A large earthen water-jar, pitcher, jar, watering-pot; आकाशमेकं हि यथा घटादिषु पृथग्भवेत् Y. 3.144; कूपे पश्य पयोनिधावपि घटो गृह्णाति तुल्यं जलम् Bh.2.49.

-2 The sign Aquarius of the zodiac (also called कुम्भ).

-3 An elephant's frontal sinus.

-4 Suspending the breath as a religious exercise.

-5 A measure equal to 2 droṇas.

-कञ्चुकि n. a rite practised by Tāntrikas and Śāktas (in which the bodices of different women are placed in a receptacle (घट) and the men present at the ceremony are allowed to take them out one by one and then cohabit with the woman to whom each bodice belongs); Āgamapr.

षष्ठ a. (

-ष्ठी f.) Sixth, the sixth; षष्ठं तु क्षेत्रजस्यांशं प्रदद्यात् पैतृकाद्धनात् Ms.9.164;7.13; षष्ठे भागे V.2.1; R.17.78; षष्ठे काले मया$$हारः प्राप्तो$यमनुजस्तव Mb.3.18.16.
