    רָתַת(cmp. רָתַע) to tremble, shake. Num. R. s. עד שלא הוקם … היה העולם רוֹתֵתוכ׳ before the Tabernacle was erected, the world was unstable, opp. נתבסס, v. בָּסַס. Sot.8a איכא בינייהו רוֹתֶתֶת the practical difference between them exists in the event of her trembling (when it is not to be apprehended that she may become defiant in the presence of another woman); ורותתת מי משקין but even if she trembles, dare we permit two women to take the test simultaneously? Pi. רִתּת same. Ḥull.24b (expl. עד שיזקין) עד שיְרַתֵּת until he trembles (from old age). Gen.
