זַכַּאיI m. (זָכָה) 1) clear, guiltless, righteous; deserving, worthy (corresp. to b. h. צַדִּיק), opp. חַיָּיב. Ib. 27a ר׳ דחמס בעינן (to be disqualified in court) he must be a wicked man connected with violence (but you cannot disqualify a sinner against ceremonial laws). Gen.
