Jokl Festschr. Kretschmer 78ff. w. important details. When we further connect sker-d- 'cut' (s. κείρω; after the split root bulba; Jokl l. c., v. Blumenthal Hesychst. 17) the ο in - ροδ- would have to be secondary. To be rejecetd WP. 2, 587 (after Fick 1, 144): to sḱer- `cacare' (as emetic). -- On other appellations of onion and garlic s. κρόμμυον and πράσον; also βολβός.
