S. προΐσσομαι), dargereichte Gabe; Hom. zweimal: Odyss. 17, 413 προικὸς γεύσεσϑαι Ἀχαιῶν, die Gabe genießen; 13, 15 ἀργαλέον ἕνα προικὸς χαρίσασϑαι, entweder = es ist beschwerlich, daß ein Einzelner es als Geschenk gebe, oder = daß ein Einzelner es umsonst, ohne Ersatz, ohne Entschädigung gebe. – Bei den Att. bes.
