After Leumann Hom. Wörter 286 f. Cret. πρύλις would have arisen through false interpretation of ep. πρυλέες; against this Ruijgh L'élém. ach. 96 f. (w. lit.). From πρύλις in any case *πρυλεύω `to perform a π.', with πρυλεύσεις f. pl.
