  • 121 the old lady in Threadneedle Street

Political Ravishment, or The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street in Danger!]

When dinner was announced, Mr. Dombey took down an old lady like a crimson pin-cushion stuffed with banknotes, who might have been the identical old lady of Threadneedle Street, she was so rich and looked so unaccommodating... (Ch. Dickens, ‘Dombey and Son’, ch.

Though some still call the Bank of England "the old lady of Threadneedle Street" she is, in fact, a wicked old Tory harridan, whose aim in life is to help the City of London make more money at the expense of the working people.

  • 123 -the army is o the army are?-

    Nota d'uso
The army are calling for new equipment, l'esercito richiede nuove attrezzature.

Reading, [w]riting and [a]rithmetic — чтение, письмо и арифметика, являющиеся основой образования. I don't know what's happened to education in this country. There are young people today who simply don't know their three r's.
