Слово actual называют «ложным другом переводчика», так как оно имеет совершенно другое значение. Actual подчёркивает или точно определяет слово или фразу, перед которой оно стоит:The actual structure of the building remained intact after the explosion. — Сама конструкция здания не пострадала от взрыва.
The actual time is 12.30. — Точное время 12.30.
Have you actually seen him? — Ты действительно видел его?
В разговорной речи наречие actually не имеет никакого значения и является вводным словом наряду со словами: so, you know, sort of, well и т. п.Actually, I'm about to go shopping. — Вообще-то, я собрался идти в магазин.
Actually, he's in Birmingham. — Вы знаете, он уехал в Бирмингем.
Actually, I felt a bit of a fool. — Честно говоря, я чувствовал себя немного глупо.
Русское слово «актуальный» переводится по-разному: актуальная проблема — pressing/urgent problem ; эта пьеса на весьма актуальную тему — this play is on a subject of great contemporary interest ; актуальная книга/статья — topical book/article ; актуальные условия — real conditions. -
