Основной механизм эксцизионной репарации, который (в отличие от репарации длинными последовательностями) является конститутивным (постоянным) и обеспечивает до 99 % (у E.coli) всех репарационных событий в клетке; по набору участвующих ферментов Р.к.п. практически не отличается от репарации длинными последовательностями; размер вырезаемого при Р.к.п. фрагмента обычно не превышает 20 нуклеотидов.
