гл.1. to examine; 2. to study; 3. to analyse; 4. to inspect; 5. to check; 6. to look; 7. to consider; 8. to scrutinize; 9. to look at/to have/ to take a look atРусский глагол рассматривать многозначен и относится и к физической деятельности — зрению, и к умственной деятельности человека — пониманию, осмыслению. п.1. to examine — рассматривать, тщательно разглядывать, осматривать, проверять, экзаменовать (глагол to examine подчеркивает тщательность проверки для того, чтобы прийти к какому-либо решению; глагол to examine относится как к неодушевленным, так и к одушевленным существительным и в этих случаях соответствует русским осматривать и экзаменовать): to examine an exhibit (a coin) — тщательно рассматривать экспонат (монету); to examine a patient — осматривать больного; to examine a student in mathematics — экзаменовать студента по математике/проверять знания студента по математике I must have my eyes examined. Who examined you in biology? We would like to examine the picture in daylight. I've not had time to study these proposals, so I can't comment on them. I studied the map for a long time trying to find the most suitable route for ourjourney. We need to identify and analyse all the company's problems before we can solve them. The computer analyses all the data sent by the satellite. The building is regularly inspected by a fire safety officer. Young plants are regularly inspected for disease insects. I have added new numbers, would you please check them/check my additions.
Compost derived by the biodegradation of the organic constituents of solid wastes and wastewater sludges. The major public health issues associated with composting using solid wastes mixed with sewage sludge are pathogens, heavy metal, and odors. The heat generated during composting, as a result of the activities of thermophilic organisms, is capable of killing bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminths present in sewage sludge. The metallic elements in sludge of greatest concern to human health are cadmium, lead, arsenic, selenium, and mercury. Only cadmium is normally found in sewage sludge at levels which, when applied to soils, can be absorbed by plants, and accumulate in edible parts, thereby entering the food chain. (Source: CORBIT)

habitat destruction
Destruction of wildlife habitats by increasing pressure for land by fast-growing human populations, pollution and over-exploitation. Whole species or populations of plants and animals have disappeared causing a loss of genetic resource that is not only regrettable from an aesthetic or philosophical point of view but also threatens man's food supply. Habitat loss takes several forms: outright loss of areas used by wild species; degradation, for example, from vegetation removal and erosion, which deprive native species of food, shelter, and breeding areas; and fragmentation, when native species are squeezed onto small patches of undisturbed land surrounded by areas cleared for agriculture and other purposes. dissolved oxygen
The amount of oxygen dissolved in a stream, river or lake is an indication of the degree of health of the stream and its ability to support a balanced aquatic ecosystem. The oxygen comes from the atmosphere by solution and from photosynthesis of water plants. The maximum amount of oxygen that can be held in solution in a stream is termed the saturation concentration and, as it is a function of temperature, the greater the temperature, the less the saturation amount. The discharge of an organic waste to a stream imposes an oxygen demand on the stream. If there is an excessive amount of organic matter, the oxidation of waste by microorganisms will consume oxygen more rapidly than it can be replenished. When this happens, the dissolved oxygen is depleted and results in the death of the higher forms of life. (Source: PORT)
