1909-1976Dinamico hombre de cine, en el mas amplio sentido de la palabra. De operador de cabina a productor, pasando por exhibidor, estamos ante uno de los hombres importantes de Hollywood, que conservo su individualidad como cineasta, sin asociarse a ninguna de las grandes empresas productoras, aunque tuvo intereses economicos en la Fox. Funda y dirige Lippert Pictures en los anos 40 y principios de los 50, asi como Regal Pictures a finales de los 50. Como presidente de Lippert, tuvo tambien intereses en Action Pictures y fue, al mismo tiempo, vicepresidente de Screen Guild. En total, de sus manos salieron mas de 300 peliculas, la mayor parte, eso si, modestos productos de genero. 1888-1967Nacido en Central City, Colorado, actor y director en el periodo mudo, dirigio el episodio piloto de la serie Our Gang. El escaso exito de este corto, el inicial de la que en lo sucesivo seria una popularisima saga, obligo a retirar de la circulacion la pelicula y, posteriormente, remontarla, ahora con Robert MacGowan como director. A principios de los 40 desaparece el nombre de Newmeyer de los titulos de credito de las peliculas, pero siempre sera recordado como realizador de la inefable El hombre mosca (Safety Last, 1923), protagonizada por Harold Lloyd.Rodeo Rhythm. 1942. 72 minutos.
