Глаголы mean и try в одном из своих значений присоединяют в качестве дополнения герундий (Ing-form), а в другом значении — инфинитив с частицей to. Комбинация с инфинитивом и комбинация с герундием имеют различные значения.1) try + To-infinitive означает "прилагать усилия к тому, чтобы сделать что-то", "пытаться сделать что-то, что сделать трудно".try + Ing-form означает "проэкспериментировать, выбрав одну из возможностей на пути к достижению поставленной задачи", "попробовать сделать что-то, что сделать, скорее всего, нетрудно и что является средством для достижения некоторой другой цели, про которую неизвестно, будет ли она в результате достигнута".It was hot. This means being flexible enough to change the plan when good suggestions are made — Это означает быть достаточно гибким, чтобы менять план, когда поступают удачные предложения.
