3 -loose o lose?-
Nota d'usoL'aggettivo loose significa prevalentemente “sciolto, libero, non confinato o trattenuto”: a loose belt, una cintura sciolta; loose floorboards, assi sconnesse; a loose tooth, un dente che balla; loose clothes, vestiti larghi; loose soil, terreno smosso. Allo stesso modo, il verbo to loose vuol dire “sciogliere, liberare”: to loose the tiger from its cage, liberare la tigre dalla sua gabbia. Loose non deve essere confuso con to lose, che invece ha il significato principale di “perdere, smarrire”: to lose one's keys, perdere le chiavi, to lose a fight, perdere un combattimento, to lose weight, perdere peso, to lose one's balance, perdere l'equilibrio. -
