مَا (أداة نفي لَمْ) \ not: (often shortened in speech to n’t with the verbs be, can, dare, do, have, may, must, need, ought) a word that gives an opposite meaning to any word or sentence: He did not (or didn’t come).. \ مَا (التعجُّبيّة) \ what: expressing surprise or annoyance, etc.: What a big dog! What nasty medicine! What a shame!. \ مَا؟ \ what: (in questions) which thing: What do you want?, that which I do what I like.
