«Бить границы». Это название очень старого обычая, который до сих пор сохранён в некоторых английских деревеньках. Каждый год в Великий четверг или в день Вознесения Христа мальчики, сопровождаемые священниками и младшими церковными чинами, приходят к деревенской стене и бьют её ивовыми прутьями. Ещё раньше били мальчиков, чтобы они хорошенько запоминали границы своей деревни.
