Русским словосочетаниям "счастливый человек" (в значении "человек, которому везет, у которого все удачно складывается") соответствует в английском языке a lucky man; "счастливый билет (день, номер)" a lucky ticket (day, number). Прилагательное happy соответствует русскому прилагательному "счастливый" только в значении "довольный (положением дел, жизнью)", рад что-либо сделать: I am happy to help you. Я рад Вам помочь. (2.) Прилагательное happy входит в группу слов, описывающих степень душевного, внутреннего состояния человека, которые часто употребляются с глаголами to feel и to look и образуют следующие ряды (от наивысшей до самой низкой степени): joyful, radian - радостный, сияющий; happy, cheerful, jolly - счастливый, бодрый, веселый; light-hearted - беззаботный; conten(ed) with smth - довольный/довольствующийся (чем-либо); dissatisfied with, moody, discontented - неудовлетворенный, не в настроении, недовольный; sad, unhappy - несчастный, грустный; gloomy - хмурый, мрачный; miserable, wretched - несчастный, жалкий: He looks/feels miserable. Он чувствует себя/выглядит несчастным. (3.) Happy употребляется при поздравлении с праздниками, при выражении пожеланий: A Happy New Year! Поздравляю с Новым Годом!
