(2). В отрицательных предложениях any соответствует русским никакой, ни один, нисколько:He hasn't any time — У него совсем нет времени;
I don't see any difference here — Я здесь не вижу никакой разницы.
(3). В утвердительных предложениях any значит любой: in any case — в любом случае.Come any day you like — Приходите в любой день.
Choose any three pictures — Выберите любые три картины.
Ask any person you meet — Спросите любого, кто вам встретится.
You can find this book in any library — Вы найдете эту книгу в любой библиотеке.
(4). В предложениях, утвердительных по форме, но подразумевающих отрицание, обычно после предлога without, наречий типа hardly и глаголов типа to prevent, to miss, прилагательное any соответствует русским всякий, какой бы то ни было:without any doubt — вне всякого сомнения;
We found the house without any difficulty — Мы нашли этот дом без всякого затруднения.
I have hardly any free time now — У меня теперь почти нет свободного времени.
In his book we miss any attempt to explain it — В его книге мы не находим никакой попытки объяснить это.
(5). Прилагательное any не употребляется с существительными, если этим существительным предшествуют другие определители (указательные и притяжательные местоимения, артикль). Прилагательное any не употребляется также с личными местоимениями. Вместо прилагательного any в этих случаях используется местоимение any в конструкции с предлогом of:any of these books — любая из этих книг;
any of my friends — любой из моих друзей,
any of them — кто-нибудь из них (любой из них).
Этому же правилу подчиняются some, none, either, neither, each, а также производные от some, any, no с компонентом body и thing: anybody, anything, somebody, something, nobody, nothing. (6). (3). В утвердительных предложениях any соответствует русским кто угодно, любой:You can ask any of them — Можете спросить любого из них.
(4). Сочетание if any соответствует почти нет, если и есть, то мало:I have very little time, if any — У меня почти нет времени.
