Bad, l) Ort zum Baden: a) Badezimmer, -haus: balineum od. balneum, Plur. gew. heteroklit. balneae od. balineae (ein Badeort, eine Badeanstalt übh., der Plur., wenn sie aus mehreren Zimmern besteht, dah. dieser immer von öffentlichen Bädern). – thermae (von den Kaisern erbaute öffentliche Prachtgebäude, in denen die balneae sich befanden, zugleich mit Fechtplätzen, Spaziergängen etc. versehen) – lavatio (Ort zum Baden, Badezimmer übh.). – ins B. gehen, lavatum ire in balneas; in balneum ire, ambulare. – b) Badeort, Ort mit Heilbädern: aquae. – Baiae (das bekannte Seebad an der Küste Kampaniens, vergleichungsweise auch von jedem Badeort). – ein warmes B., aquae calidae: ein kaltes B., aquae frigidae: ein stark besuchtes B., locus salubrium aquarum usu frequens: ein berühmtes B., aquae salubritate in medendisque corporibus nobiles: ins B. gehen, reisen, ad aquas proficisci: ins B. kommen, ad aquas venire: hierher ins B. kommen, valetudinis causā in haec loca venire: im B. sein, ad aquas esse: das B. gebrauchen, aquis uti. – II) das Wasser zum Baden: frigida (kaltes), tepida (lauwarmes), calida (ganz warmes), alle verst. aqua. – ein kaltes Bad nehmen, frigidā lavari: kalte, warme Bäder (in einem Badeorte) nehmen, aquis frigidis, calidis uti: ein B. nehmen können, idoneum factum esse balneo (v. einem Kranken). – III) das Baden: lavatio. lotio. lotus. – usus aquarum (als Heilmittel). – B. mit kaltem, warmem Wasser, lavatio frigida, calida; lavatio frigidae, calidae aquae: sich zum B. fertig machen, balineo praeparari.
