102 the lesser evil
(the lesser evil (тж. the lesser of two evils))наименьшее зло; см. тж. of two evils choose the leastThe agreement between Lincoln and the Radicals was not, as some have since said, a choice of the "lesser evil" by the latter. Up to the time of the split, Lincoln had headed the joint group of revolutionary forces; and despite his many weaknesses and errors, the movement was making progress under his leadership - with heavy pressure from the Radicals. (W. Foster, ‘The Negro People in American History’, ch. 24) — Вопреки утверждению многих, соглашение между Линкольном и радикалами не было для последних выбором "меньшего зла".

Например, группа альпинистов – a team of mountain climbers; была создана специальная группа следователей – a special team/task force of investigators was appointed и т.п.
