В купольных камерах в отличие от традиционного подхода при котором на поворотное устройство устанавливается контейнер, внутри которого находится камера и объектив, применена другая конструктивная концепция. В купольной камере в контейнер, выполненный в виде стеклянного купола, помещено поворотное устройство, на котором установлена камера (без контейнера) и объектив Zoom. За счет оптимального интегрирования стеклянного купола, поворотного устройства, телевизионной камеры с объективом Zoom удается резко повысить скорость и точность установки поворотного устройства, так как поворотное устройство работает с грузом существенно меньшего веса (чем в традиционной концепции). В результате этого возник новый класс устройств, купольные камеры, содержащий скоростные поворотные устройства с предустановкой - до 100 предустановок, время перехода из одной позиции в другую не более 1 сек.
