НабуханиеУвеличение объёма твёрдого тела вследствие поглощения им из окружающей среды жидкости или пара. Способность к набуханию — характерная особенность тел, образованных высокомолекулярными веществами (полимерами). Набухание обусловлено диффузионными процессами, которые обычно сопровождаются сольватацией, т. е. связыванием низкомолекулярного вещества полимером. Различают ограниченное и неограниченное набухание. В первом случае макромолекулы соединены достаточно прочно и набухание прекращается, достигнув определённого предела. Набухшее тело сохраняет форму и чёткую границу раздела с жидкой средой. Во втором случае взаимная диффузия растворителя в полимерное тело и полимера в растворяющую среду постепенно приводит к исчезновению границы раздела между набухающим телом и жидкостью. Такое набухание завершается полным растворением полимера. Ограниченно набухают, например, гелевидные ионообменные смолы в воде, вулканизованный каучук в бензоле; неограниченно набухают все полимеры, растворимые в соответствующих растворителях. -
