פּוֹטִירִיןm. (ποτήριον) poterion, name of a shrub (Astragalus Poterium), a species of tragacanth, yielding a gum which was used for spicing wines; פיילי פ׳ a vial of poterion, a medicinal drink taken after bathing. Gen. R. s. 51 (ref. to מנת כוסם, Ps. 11:6) כפ׳ פ׳ לאחר המרחץ (not פיטרין) like the vial of poterion after a bath; Y.Pes.X, 37c top דיפלי פ׳ כדיפלי פ׳וכ׳ (corr. acc.); Yalk. Ps. 655 (not פוטרין). Gen. קָדַח 1) to bore, perforate, penetrate. Sabb.XII, 1 הקוֹדֵחַוכ׳ he who bores a hole ever so small. Tosef. ib. XI (XII), 3 עד שיִקְדַּח את כולו until he bores as far as is needed for his purpose; Y.Pes.VI, 33b top. Lev. R. s. 4 נטל … והתחיל קוֹדֵחַ תחתיו one of the passengers of the ship took a borer and began to bore under the place assigned to him; לא תחתי אני קודח have I no right to bore in my place? Ab.
