Пренебрежительное прозвище испаноговорящего. На первый взгляд, spic происходит от Hispanic (испанский), но в действительности это не так. Spic — это сокращениие от слова spiggoty, так издавна называли испаноговорящих из Южной и Центральной Америки. Во время строительства Панамского канала (1904—14) панамцы, плохо знавшие английский язык, говорили: 'No spigga da English' («Не говорю по-английски»), отсюда spiggoty, а позже — spic. В США spic также называют итальянцев, может быть, от spaghetti (спагетти). -
