Geständnis, confessio (das Eingeständnis, z.B. inscitiae suae: u. simplex veritatis od. veri erroris). – professio (das offene, freie Bekenntnis, z.B. stultitiae suae). – indicium (die Anzeige, Aussage eines Vergehens vor Gericht auf Befragen des Richters). – jmd. zum G. von etw. bringen, bewegen, alqm adducere ad confessionem alcis rei (gütlich); alcis od. ab alqo exprimere confessionem alcis rei od. exprimere, ut alqs confiteatur alqd (mit Gewalt = jmdm. das G. abpressen, von jmd. das G. erpressen): jmdm. das G. entlocken, zu dem G. bewegen, daß etc., elicere comiter sciscitando, ut fateatur mit folg. Akk. u. Infin.: jmdm. das G. abnötigen (abpressen), von jmd. das G. erpressen, jmd. zu dem G. bewegen, bringen, daß etc., exprimere confessionem mit Akk. u. Infin.; exprimere od. extorquere, ut fateatur; cogere, ut confiteatur od. ut concedat; alle mit Akk. u. Infin.: zum G. gebracht, s. geständig: ein G. oder das G. ablegen, s. gestehen.
