Эдди, Мэри Бейкер (1821—1910), основательница «Христианской науки» [*Christian Science]. В 1866, после серьезной травмы она обратилась к Библии и неожиданно избавилась от болезни. Последующие три года посвятила изучению Священного Писания и пришла к выводу, что исцеление приходит через молитву. Опубликовала свои идеи в книге «Наука и здоровье» [‘Science and Health with Key to Scriptures'], ставшей учебником «Христианской науки».
