13 Fessenden, Reginald Aubrey
(1866-1932) Фессенден, Реджиналд ОбриИзобретатель, уроженец Канады. В 1886-1900 занимался исследовательской работой в различных компаниях (в лабораториях Т. А. Эдисона [ Edison, Thomas Alva], "Вестингауза" [Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co.]) занимал профессорские посты в университетах. В 1901 запатентовал высокочастотный генератор, позволивший передавать речь по радио. Накануне Рождества 1906 в г. Брант-Рок, шт. Массачусетс, была проведена первая широковещательная передача речи и музыки, которую принимали суда, находившиеся в сотнях миль от города. Изобрел гетеродин - устройство для приема радиосигнала в звуковом диапазоне. Среди других изобретений - радиокомпас, эхолот и др.
