Протоонкоген (ы) — ген, контролирующий нормальную пролиферацию клеток и способный превращаться в онкоген, если происходит соматическая мутация или транспозиция. Ген, экспрессия которого приводит к неконтролируемой пролиферации (трансформации) клеток; в О. могут преобразовываться протоонкогены proto-oncogene в результате мутаций, сверхнормативной экспрессии и некоторых др. механизмов.* * *Онкоген, трансформирующий ген — мутировавший и/или с повышенной экспрессией вариант нормального гена (клеточный О.) в клетках животных и человека, кодирующий белок и превращающий нормальную клетку в опухолевую (см. Новообразование). Kлеточные О. (c-onc) могут стать частью ретровирусов, обозначаемых v-onc (вирусный О.).
