Один из группы генов, кодирующих какой-либо количественный (пластический, непрерывный) признак; П. взаимодействуют по типу кумулятивной полимерии; выделение П. условно, т.к. любой ген кодирует дискретные (по типу олигогенов) структуры и функции (т.е. белковые факторы); в настоящее время признается существование тесно взаимосвязанных кластеров П. локусов количественных признаков quantitative; термин «П» введен К.Мазером в 1941.
