Nota d'usoPunta si traduce con “point” solo quando si parla di un oggetto appuntito: Si vedeva solo la punta dell'ago, you could only see the point of the needle; la punta della matita, the point of the pencil. Se invece si tratta dell'estremità finale di un oggetto, si usano di solito “tip” o “end”: Mi sono morso la punta della lingua, I bit the tip of my tongue. Infine, la locuzione a punta, viene di solito espressa con “pointed” o “pointy” seguito dal sostantivo in questione: orecchie a punta, pointy ears; scarpe a punta, pointed shoes.
